A brilliant pianist, his eccentricities and showmanship belied a life of struggle, prejudice, and isolation. Illustrated with never-before-seen concert footage, rare personal photos and exclusive interviews, the film paints a portrait of this overlooked genius.

Before the movie, don’t miss a unique animal encounter with BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo! Attendees will get a chance to get a close-up of one of the Zoo’s animals while hearing more about where they come from, what they like to do & eat, and how they have adapted to their native environment.
Before every film the folks with our newest exhibit: EARTH AS ART will be on-hand in our Free Gallery doing short, educational presentations about the Art. Earth As Art is a collection of works created from Satellite Images of our lovely Blue Planet. All you have to do is get here 30 minutes early to catch the presentations. Manship Theatre is thrilled to present Disney's Aladdin JR as the Musical Production Camp for 2016. Disney's Aladdin JR is scheduled July 11-22, 2016. This Camp is for Ages 9-15. Children must be Age 9 by the Audition date of April 27, 2016.
Camp Hours 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday - Friday, July 11-22nd. Camp is not held July 16th and 17th. Camp hours on Friday, July 22nd begin at 8:30am and performances are 5:30pm and 7:30pm at Manship Theatre. Each child is required to bring a lunch, drink and a snack each day.
Disney’s Aladdin JR. involves a large cast and everyone will have a part in the show! Auditions for specific roles will be held prior to the start of camp on April 27-29th from 6-8:30pm. There will be two shows on Friday, July 22nd at 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Artistic Staff: Paige Gagliano and Melanie Couvillon (Directors), Lisa Smith (Music Director) and Ashley Day Fabre (Choreographer). Camp Assistants: Bailey Wax, Mollie Thompson, and Anna Devall.
The camp cost is $375 for the 10-day camp which includes their camp T-shirt. Extended care will be offered till 5:30pm for an additional cost.
Public tickets will be sold at a later date for the performance of Disney's Aladdin Jr.

Artistic Staff Bios:
Paige Parsons Gagliano (Director) is a 2006 Honoree Forty Under Forty by the Baton Rouge Business Report. She holds a Bachelors of Science and a Master in Education from LSU. During her work at LSU she was featured in several productions on LSU's mainstage as well as productions at Baton Rouge Little Theatre. Paige has over 25 years experience in directing and teaching professional, community and educational theatre. In those years she has directed over 50 theatrical productions to critical and commercial acclaim for organizations including Louisiana State University, Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Baton Rouge Little Theatre, Baker Little Theatre, Playmakers of Baton Rouge and St. James Episcopal Church. She has also directed in the LSU Union Theatre, The Heymann Center in Lafayette, The Strand Theatre in Shreveport and The Rosa Hart Theatre in Lake Charles. Paige is very proud of her work as the sole director and co-producer of every production of Evangeline, the Musical. This includes the professional productions at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge Little Theatre, The Heymann Center in Lafayette and for Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
She is past Executive Director at Baton Rouge Little Theatre, Development Director for The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and later Executive Director of Community Fund for the Arts. She was recruited to become the first Development Director for Manship Theatre. In the community Paige has enjoyed volunteering. She was Provisional Chair for the Junior League of Baton Rouge, member LSU English Department's The Shakespeare Project, Board Member for Playmakers of Baton Rouge and a Featured Speaker for Capital Area United Way. Teaching remains Paige’s passion. After serving as Director of Fine Arts at The Dunham School for 4 years she returned to Episcopal High School. At Episcopal Paige directs all the theatrical productions, teaches and serves as Director of Performing Arts. God has blessed Paige with a wonderful husband and three amazing children!
Melanie Couvillon (Director) was named Executive Director of Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts in January 2016. She previously held the positions of Director of Family Programming and Events at Manship Theatre from 2010 to 2015 and Executive Director of Playmakers of Baton Rouge from 2005-2010. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University and is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Melanie’s professional experience began in 1996 where she performed professionally both nationally and internationally until 2003. Professional credits include: Ellie in Show Boat (Gateway Playhouse, New York), Lucille in Meet Me in St. Louis( Gateway Playhouse and National Tour), Gladys in Pajama Game (MacHadyn Theatre, New York), Sister Mary Leo in all versions of Nunsense (MacHadyn Theatre, New York), Molly in Unsinkable Molly Brown (Virginia Musical Theatre), Wicked Witch in the Wizard of Oz and Solo Dancer in Singin’ in the Rain (Cherry County Playhouse, Michigan). Cruise Line Credits include: Eponine/Grizabella in Hey Mr. Producer! (Norwegian Sky) and Polly in Crazy for You (Norwegian Dream). She performed the role of Mrs. Claus in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the world famous Radio City Rockettes from 1999-2003 in Detroit, Branson, and Phoenix. In 2008, she performed the role of Miss Hannigan in Playmakers of Baton Rouge’s record breaking production of Annie at Manship Theatre. She most recently returned to the Theatre Baton Rouge stage to perform the title role in Mary Poppins in September of 2014.In 2007, she was named in Baton Rouge Business Report’s Top Forty Under Forty and St. Joseph’s Academy’s Distinguished Graduate.
Lisa Smith (Music Director) is the Director of Choral Music at Parkview Baptist School and serves as an adjudicator for choral festivals throughout Louisiana. Her high school and middle school choirs consistently receive superior ratings at District and State Choral Festivals. She has been the Musical Director for over forty local musical theater productions and has accompanied or played in scores of local productions, honor choirs, and every week at First Baptist Church of Addis. She has also produced local and regional award-winning show choirs. She received her Music Education degree from SLU, did graduate work at LSU and has been teaching for over thirty years.
Ashley Day Fabre (Choreographer) a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native, is a cum-laude graduate of Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Music Business with an Emphasis in Production. Ashley was Studio Coordinator at MTV Studios in Times Square where she worked on shows Total Request Live, MTV News, New Years Eve Special, Mi TRL, Vh1 Top 20 Countdown, The Big Ten, Real World Reunions, and various specials. As coordinator, Ashley worked with celebrities such as Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Stevie Wonder, Kelly Clarkson, Fall Out Boy, John Travolta, Lindsay Lohan, and Jamie Foxx. In 2007, Ashley moved home to Baton Rouge to work in the film industry. She has worked on over 25 films as post-production supervisor and coordinator for networks such as Lifetime and Syfy Channel. Titles include Christmas on the Bayou, Brother's Bloom, Status: Unknown, Swamp Shark, Arachnoquake, Zombie Shark, Meeting Evil, etc.She was a Jeffie Jean Dancer in Baton Rouge for 20 years where she studied tap, jazz and ballet. Ashley is a graduate of the Broadway Dance Center Summer Intensive program in New York City where she studied dance with Frank Hatchett and Savion Glover, just to name a few. Musical theatre credits include: Grace Farrell in Annie with Playmakers of Baton Rouge, Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street at Theatre Baton Rouge, Wendy in Peter Pan, the original Teen Evangeline in Evangeline the Musical, Once on This Island, Music Man, Little Shop of Horrors, The Secret Garden, Oklahoma, The King and I, Bye Bye Birdie. Ashley is currently the Development Officer at Manship Theatre.

Paul Thorn is one of the finest songwriters in music today. His Southern roots are obvious and include a childhood stint in Baton Rouge. Paul grew up in a family led by his father, a Southern preacher. An early career as a prizefighter (he once fought Roberto Duran on national TV!) transitioned into a life of music. The Paul Thorn Band crisscrosses the country entertaining a loyal fan base with one of the hottest live shows in the land.
