Judi Betts artwork can be seen in Manship Theatre's Gallery as well as in the LSU Museum of Art!

Reception on September 13th, 5pm-7pm

Both the Gallery and the LSU Museum of Art on the 5th floor will be open from 5-7pm for the reception.

JUDI BETTS nws, aws an artist from Baton Rouge, LA, is a highly respected painter, instructor, juror and author, who has attained an international reputation for her transparent watercolor paintings. She is the author of two award winning books:  WATERCOLOR…Let’s Think About It! and PAINTINTG…a QUEST toward XTRAORD!NARY.  Her works are widely published in books and periodicals.  She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art from Indiana University in 1958 and her M.Ed. from Louisiana State University.

She has conducted workshops in 48 states and 10 foreign countries, including invitational sessions in Norway, Puerto Rico, Sweden and Canada.  She has won over 125 awards in major competitions i.e. The National Academy of Design, American Watercolor Society and National Watercolor Society.  She is a member of honor in the Federation of Canadian Artists.  Her paintings are included in corporate, university, museum and private collections.

Her paintings were selected to be exhibited in Invitational Exhibitions in Nanjing and Shanghai, China; Taiwan; Canada, as well as galleries in the U.S. and at Walt Disney’s EPCOT Center.  Judi has received several prestigious awards:  the 2000 Louisiana Governor’s Award for Professional Artists; the Transparent Watercolor Society of American awarded her their “Master of Watercolor” designation; a special award for “Contributions to the medium of Watercolor” by Watercolor USA Honor Society and in 2012 she received their Lifetime Achievement Award.  Her most recent award was the Joan Ashley Rothermel Memorial Award from the 156th International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society entitled “Vacation Station”, held in April 2023 at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.
