KEYNOTES is a 12-week public speaking workshop series for anyone interested in the mastery of oral presentation. If you dream of someday giving a Ted Talk, becoming a motivational speaker, hosting a podcast, delivering powerful theatrical monologues, doing voice-over work, or killin’ it at the local spoken word open mic, this program is for you. Facilitated by poetry slam world champion, Chancelier “Xero” Skidmore, this engaging and supportive workshop series will build on whatever you bring into the room and help you acquire the keys to where you want to be.

Chancelier “Xero” Skidmore is a writer, spoken word poet, actor, educator, and musician from Plaquemine, Louisiana. He has called Baton Rouge home since moving there in 1992. He’s the co-founder of The Baton Rouge Poetry Alliance. He is the former Executive Director of Forward Arts, where he and other teaching artists facilitated hundreds of poetry writing workshops for young people in and around Baton Rouge. He has published a collection of his poems entitled upBEAT DOWNbeat. He’s the former host of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge’s podcast AC23. In 2013, he won the Individual World Poetry Slam championship. These days he plays percussion for The Michael Foster Project, auditions for acting gigs, teaches public speaking and writes new material for his next spoken word poetry album.
