A native of Dallas, Jazzmeia Horn was named by her jazz loving grandmother and grew up singing gospel music at her church. In 2009, she enrolled at The School of Jazz at The New School in New York City, followed by wins at the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition (2013) and the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition (2015).
Her 2017 debut album, A Social Call, and 2019’s follow-up, Love & Liberation, both received Grammy nominations in the Best Jazz Vocal Album category. The following year, she published her book, Strive From Within: The Jazzmeia Horn Approach, while recording her 2021 big band album, Dear Love.
