After losing his paralegal job, Sam Stein suffers a panic attack and takes work babysitting his psychiatrist’s three granddaughters. Their mother, Dianne, once a rising actor, is in a strained marriage to David, a touring bassist. That summer on Martha’s Vineyard, Sam lives with Dianne, David, their kids, four grandparents–and his secret longing.
